Relisting on Vinted: why the algorithm rewards active sellers
You may have noticed that your listings get plenty of views in the first few days, then fade into obscurity. This is no accident: the Vinted algorithm consistently favours fresh content and active sellers.
Understanding this mechanism and adapting your routine accordingly can multiply your visibility - and therefore your sales - in a significant way.
How the Vinted algorithm works
Vinted does not officially publish the details of its algorithm, but the collective experience of thousands of sellers makes it possible to identify the key factors that influence how your listings rank:
Freshness factors
- Date listed - New listings get a visibility boost for 24 to 48 hours
- Last edited - Changing the price, description or photos tells the algorithm that the listing is active
- Seller activity - Sellers who log in and interact daily see their listings ranked higher
Engagement factors
- Number of likes - Each like tells the algorithm that the item interests buyers
- Number of views - The views-to-likes ratio measures how appealing your listing is
- Messages received - Questions from buyers are a strong signal of interest
Trust factors
- Positive reviews - A good sales history improves the overall ranking of your listings
- Dispatch time - Sellers who ship quickly are favoured
- Response rate - Replying quickly to messages is a signal of reliability
Strategic relisting
Relisting means deleting a listing and recreating it to benefit once again from the "new listing" boost. It is the technique most used by professional sellers to maintain their visibility.
When should you relist?
- After 7 to 10 days without a view - If a listing no longer generates any traffic, relisting gives it visibility again
- Before traffic peaks - Sunday evening and Monday morning are the moments when Vinted traffic is highest
- After a price drop - Combining relisting with a price adjustment maximises the impact
How to relist effectively?
- Save your photos - Before deleting the listing, keep the photos in a well-organised folder
- Improve with every relist - A new title, a better first photo, a richer description
- Change the time you post - If the first version went live on Tuesday at 2 pm, try Sunday at 8 pm
- Space out your relists - No more than 10 to 15 listings a day to avoid the anti-spam filters
Recommended relisting schedule
- Monday: Relist the 10 oldest listings with no views
- Wednesday: Adjust prices (a 5 to 10 % drop) on listings older than 14 days
- Friday: Post the new pieces (make the most of weekend traffic)
- Sunday evening: Relist the high-margin pieces for the Monday boost
Alternatives to relisting
Relisting works, but it takes time. Other levers help you maintain your visibility:
The paid Vinted boost
Vinted lets you promote your listings for a fee. It is worthwhile for high-margin pieces (more than 30 euros of gross margin), but the cost adds up quickly if you use it systematically.
Changing the price
Lowering the price of an item, even by a few cents, sends a notification to everyone who has liked it. It is a free and powerful way to reignite interest.
Adding photos
Adding a new photo to an existing listing flags it as updated. Add a worn shot, a close-up of the label or a side view that you did not have originally.

Subscribe to DresskoolRelisting mistakes to avoid
- Relisting the same item too often - Beyond 3 relists without a sale, the problem lies elsewhere (price, photos, description)
- Relisting en masse at the same time - The algorithm detects automated behaviour
- Not improving between relists - Recreating the exact same listing has a diminishing impact
- Ignoring the statistics - If a listing has 200 views but 0 likes, the problem is the price or the description, not visibility
Measuring the impact of your strategy
To find out whether your relisting strategy is working, track these indicators every week:
- Total views - Are they rising week after week?
- Likes-to-views ratio - A good ratio is above 5 %. Below that, your listings attract traffic but do not convince.
- Conversion rate - The percentage of listings sold relative to your total catalogue. Aim for 30 to 40 % a month.
- Average time to sell - The time between going live and the sale. Under 14 days is excellent.
